Character's Full Name: Peter Jason Quill - Star-Lord
Character's Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Character's Journal Name:
partofaplan
What would you like your character's tag to be?: star-lord
Answer the following questions in no less than 300 words but no greater than 1000 words put together...
Character's background (their past and present): Peter Jason Quill was kidnapped from Earth at a young age shortly after his mother's death. He was abducted by a group of interstellar pirates, known as the Ravagers, who were contracted to deliver him to his father. The leader of said outlaws, Yondu Udonta, took a shine to young Peter. He manipulated the young boy into working with them, most notably with the threat of his crew eating him, and, soon, Peter grew up an outlaw, thief and pirate. He coined a self-dubbed title as the Legendary Outlaw, Star-Lord, after a nickname his mother called him. He's been arrested several times by the Nova Corps, notably for one count of Fraud, two counts of assault/drunkenness, and one sex crime, specifically the illegal manipulaton of the Gramosian Duchess, although, this was merely the result of the duchess seducing him.. At present, Peter has managed to distance himself from the Ravagers and, including Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot, is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, responsible for the downfall of the Kree terrorist Ronan the Accuser. Although, he was initially in it for the sale of a mysterious orb, found to contain the concentrated essence of one of the six singularities present prior to the Big Bang, he eventually teamed up with the others to stop Ronan destroying Xandar, the capitol of the Nova Empire.
Character's personality: At a glance, Peter Quill is an upbeat, sarcastic and egotistical individual, with a bit of a bad reputation that he plays up massively. He flirts, lies, threatens and bribes his way into getting what he wants, and is not above most levels of debauchery, whether he gets something from it or not. He's known to have quite a number of one-night stands, either to further his goals, or satisfy himself.
That isn't to say he isn't without morals. He seems to prefer incapacitation to outright killing, if he can avoid it, but he will kill when necessary. He's not as ruthless as Yondu or the other Ravagers.
He's also seen to be gullible, or carefree, at times, such as being seduced by the Gramosian Duchess. As everyone who's been to Gramos knows that being intimate with a member of the Royal family is illegal, it's not clear whether he didn't know about the law, didn't care, was completely pulled in by the duchess, or it was just part of a wider scheme. Either way, it landed him with a "Sex Crime" conviction on his record.
Quill is extremely protective over what he considers his, in particular his Sony Walkman and subsequent tape. This is mostly because of the fact that it was given to him by his mother before she died. He'll even go as far as risking his life to save it.
He quotes 80's pop culture references that he would have known as a child, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Billy the Kid, etc. This seems to be an effort to try and retain his identity from when he was kidnapped.
He does, however, have a strong sense of justice, even if it is sometimes over-ridden by the grooming by Yondu and the Ravagers. He brings the Guardians together, despite them knowing that it was highly likely going to be a suicide run. He does, however, seem content to sit on the border of good and bad.
In summary, Peter Quill is a decent, honourable man at heart, but you may have to look pretty deep. He has a rougish streak to him, and is not above using dishonourable means to score success.
Character's skills/abilities/powers: Peter Quill is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant. His methods may be unorthodox, such as clipping a rocket booster to the back of an enemy, but he gets the job done. He's an expert marksman, being able to use any number of weaponry from across the galaxy to a decent degree. He's a good bargainer, able to haggle, pressure and persuade people into the best deals for himself. He's good at thinking on his feet, being able to diffuse many situations with well-placed words, as well as deciding on the best course of action. He's an expert pilot, being able to pilot many types of craft with relative ease.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: Star-Lord Helmet: Peter's helmet is retractable and allows him to breathe in the vacuum of space. It also has an internal communications relay and can detect ultraviolet and thermal waves.
Clothing: Peter's uniform, which is cannibalised from various Ravager uniforms, is specially designed to assist him in surviving in space.
Jet attachments: Peter has clip-on jet attachments which he affixes to his boots. These have a powerful kick, allowing him to propel himself off the ground, or any direction needed. They are triggered by a device on his belt.
Translator Implant: Peter has a translator implant embedded in his neck, likely connected to his spinal column.
Element Guns: Peter has two blasters known as Element Guns. They have four settings and fire shots of fire, ice, wind or lightning, depending.
Sony Walkman: Standard, run-of-the-mill, early '80s Sony Walkman tape player. Contains "Awesome Mix Vol. #2."
Are you bringing your character to
ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?: No
If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): N/A
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? The oppertunity to introduce him to the wider MCU cast available and exposure to a different, yet similar, scenario. Not too sure beyond that.
